When I first starting watching it, I thought it was awesome because of Goku and Vegeta going SS4, the Golden Oozaru, and new villains. That was years ago. Watching it now, it doesn't make much sense. Two Android 17's fusing and becoming that powerful? Goku somehow couldn't beat Super 17 as an SS4, but beats him as a kid, base form? Freeza and Cell were just drawn badly and seemed weak as hell.

^ Frieza and Cell were pretty much fodder after their respective arcs. Them losing to Goku should come as no suprise.

As for Hearts's question, I watched DBZ back in 1999-2005 and I watched DBGT/DB around 2003'ish and I found all the series to be good. Nothing really irked me in GT really from what I can remember. Looking back though, the concept behind Super 17 was kinda dumb. Not so much his power just that him being a villian didn't make much sense being that he wasn't even a villian in Z.

The resident GT fan!

I personally love GT as much as I do Z, both of them gave me great moments and I believe they are both great. The power grown of the characters wasn't a problem to me, rather it got me even more excited! I mean when Goku said Riildo>Buu I was like "lol seriously?!awesome!" Just like Z was extremely overpower to Z so is GT to Z, so IMO everything works well for me at least.

Im kind of surprised that people think that GT is decent, first time i watched it (this was before I knew that people hated it) I hated it because of its inconsistencies, it became extremely annoying.. Did you guys learn to like GT or did you think it was decent from the start?
I can only speak for myself, but if you want I can give you a bit of historical perspective as someone who saw these episodes in raw Japanese (and then later subbed) months after they aired in Japan, thanks to VHS tape traders. Basically, GT has always been a love it or hate it kind of thing, very few people are lukewarm on it, and I'd say you had a few camps.
1. People like me, who enjoyed it for what it was (a fun series that didn't take itself too seriously), while fixing some of the issues a lot of fans had with the manga (abuse of the Dragon Balls without consequences, the Uub ending, etc.).
2. Elitist fans who hated everything Toriyama didn't do right off the bat and lectured you for liking it.
3. People who gave it a fair chance, but just didn't dig it.

From the first time I saw GT, I enjoyed it, because for all its flaws I never got bored with it and it fixed some of the issues I had with the series. I didn't grow to like it, I liked it back in the late 90's, still do now. Even back then I took crap for it, but I like what I like and try not to let the bigger group opinion change my stance on things. This is the exact same fight people were having on newsgroups and bad ezboard forums back then, honestly. Also, as far as people criticizing the animation, it was quite good for a TV series of its time, I think that if you judge it against other mid-90's shows it holds up pretty well outside of some color palette choices (say Muten Roshi's outfit).
